Today's Reflection (Ayah 35-36 , Surah Baqarah)
And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers."
(Quran 2:36)
But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time.
As we already learned that shaytaan was arrogant and did not follow the command of Allah in the previous ayah, in this ayah Allah tells Adam (as) "You and your wife dwell in jannah and eat and drink what ever you wish from there in" And this shows the immense (love) & blessing of Allah towards Adam (AS) and then Allah warns them to not go near this one tree or else they will be among the wrong doers.
He gave Adam (AS) the permission to eat and drink what ever he wills and restricted access to just one tree. Just like Allah gives us permission to do so many things as per our wish but with a little restrictions and what do we as humans focus on? The blessings or the restrictions? Ask your self this question. If we focus on the good ( the blessings, the halal) we will surely be content because Allah has made halal everything that is beneficial for a person and Allah has forbidden everything that is harmful for us.
And if we focus on the restrictions and complain about it then it gets easier for the shaytaan to attract us towards the temporary worldly enjoyment which does us no benefit in the aakhira but slowly increases our sins.
The next ayah explains to us that shaytaan is our clear enemy. He wants us to stray from the straight path, he deviates us from the path Allah has prescribed for us. Shaytan makes haraam tempting for us just as it is mentioned in this ayah that he made Adam (AS) slip. Here it means shaytaan made the tree which was forbidden tempting for Adam (AS). And Adam (AS) reached out to that tree (he slipped from his intention for not going close to that tree) and Allah became displeased with this.
When ever we try to be steadfast on the commands of Allah , shaytaan will try to distract us with his illusions, he makes us follow our desires and not compromise. He is always there to say to us that it is ok to pray a little late or will convince us that its ok to miss a prayer if we are busy etc.
There are in numerous ways how he misguides us slowly and steadily. We do not even realize that we are inclining towards the wrong.
He makes the haraam so interesting , that we loose the battle with our nafs.
Every human being is bound to slip in one way or the other but the most important thing is to realize that we have gone astray and seek forgiveness and make our faith more stronger. Allah is always most merciful and always most forgiving.
