If you are grateful, He will surely increase you in favor (14:7)

SubhanAllah such a beautiful ayah. In our day to day life, usually what happens when we do some one a favor, we expect them to thank us and appreciate us but when it comes to the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon us we seldom thank Allah. Allah blesses us abundantly and when we thank him sincerely for even a few of his blessing , he increases it ( gives us barakah) in it. How amazing is that? If you want barakah in any thing at all, just thank Allah constantly. Expecting appreciation and gratefulness  from people will only lead us to depression and ill feeling towards others. This is one of the biggest test for us, Allah test every human being by blessing him as He mentions in this ayah(27: 40)

β€œβ€¦This is by the grace of my Lord! – to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is free of all needs, Supreme in honour!”

It was reported that the Prophet, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, stayed up all night, standing until his feet became swollen. When he was asked, β€œWhy are you doing this when Allah has forgiven all your past and future wrong actions?”He, SallAllahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, replied: β€œShould I not be a grateful slave?” .(Sahih Bukhari)

When we read about this hadith, we truly realize how grateful we should be. Our prophet Muhammad SAW showed us the importance of being grateful through this hadith.

β€œBy Allah, I love you, so do not forget to say at the end of every salah, β€˜O Allah help me to remember You and to give thanks to You and to worship You well.’”

Allah guides whom He wills, so we have to make dua to Allah to make us amongst his humble grateful servants.

Remember Allah does not need our thanks, it is us who need our blessings to be multiplied."And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful for the benefit of his own self" (Luqman 31:12)

If you are ungrateful, Allah is unaffected. If you become grateful, then you have taken the first step towards becoming a true Believer. It is for this reason that the Prophet exhorted us to "Love Allah as we benefit from His grace" (Tirmidhi).

Keep in mind Shaytans first attempt to distract us from the true deen is by making us ungrateful towards Allah. If we are truly worshipping Allah alone, then we should be truly grateful to Him.
