Today’s Reflection (Ayah 28 Surah Baqarah)

 

كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنْتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned.

How can any human deny the existence of Allah, the creator, how do you disbelieve and worship any god other than Allah. Here Allah is clearly mentioning us that He is the one who gives us life before we we even came into existence. Our journey of life is explained very beautifully in this small ayah. We were nothing then Allah gave us life , and then he will give us death and then raise us again on the day of Akhira. Do you not realize how small this life is, the first two stages in our life are over and then the next stage is waiting. Every human being shall taste death as Allah mentioned in this ayah of Surah Al Imran ayah 185.

  كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۗ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ أُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۖ فَمَنْ زُحْزِح عَنِ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ ۗ وَمَاالْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ

 

The reality is we do not have much time, our death can come to us any time, we may die tomorrow , or today or now. Is there any thing we can do about it?

Yes actually, we can . We cannot control it but surely we can prepare for it, make our bond with Allah stronger, use every moment that is left to get closer to Allah and dedicate our time to please Allah and repent sincerely for our sins so that when we are given life again on the day of Judgement our scales weigh heavier with good deeds, our Sins are forgiven and we be granted jannah by the mercy of Allah.

 

We humans are so helpless, yet some of us deny or disbelieve in the existence of Allah. Disbelief and ingratitude go hand in hand , when we are not grateful for the life Allah has granted us , then that is leading us to disbelief. Because according to this ayah our biggest blessing is our life, as without life we cannot reap the benefits of the other blessings that Allah has granted us and when we are ungrateful for our life then we are disbelieving in his creation. 

 

In the last part of the ayah , Allah says: To him is our return. Are we still in denial, how ever we spent our life, we do good, we do evil, this life will come to an end and we will return to our creator and we will be accountable for every action of ours in this duniya and will be rewarded or punished accordingly.

As Allah mentions in Ayah 6 of surah Inshiqaq:

 

 يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ

 

 “O forgetful human, surely you are returning to your Lord a truly returning, then you will meet Him”. (84:6)

 

 Allah says we are forgetful. Aren’t we? We forget that this life will end and get so involved in our present life, We forget that Allah knows every move of ours, We forget that what ever befalls us is by the will of Allah and the most important thing we forget is why we were created.( To worship Him Alone )
