Todays Reflection [Ayah 25, Surah Al-Baqarah]
"And give good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds; that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with fruit therefrom as sustenance, they will say, “This is what we were provided with before,” and they will be given the like of it. And they will have pure spouses therein, and they will abide therein forever." (2:25)
We humans are reward oriented. Only when we know what we are going to achieve then only we put our best foot forward. But do we do the same when we hear the incomparable rewards that Allah has reserved for the believers and those who do good deeds or do we ignore it? In this ayah Allah gives the good news to those who believe (believe in the fate, the books, the messenger, the angels etc.) and those who do good deeds (deeds that please Allah).
What is the good news? The good news is the rewards of Jannah. Jannah is beyond our imagination. The most beautiful picture of a garden you can paint will not be even close to the garden which is waiting for the believers in the hereafter with everything they could ever wish for.
Ok, just read the ayah again, such a big reward for who? It is for those who believe. Believing doesn’t only mean saying we believe but it includes trusting, accepting, obeying and thanking Allah.
Trusting in the fate that we are born with, trusting that what ever happens , happens by the will of Allah, as Allah mentions in Surah Hadid : Ayah 22 “No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah, is easy”. And as is also mentioned in this hadeeth by Tirmidhi: “Know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with something, they would not benefit you except with that which Allah has already recorded for you. If they gather to harm you by something, they would not be able to harm you by anything except what Allah has already recorded against you.”
Accepting the commands of Allah that they truly are the ideal rules for human beings and accepting the quran as the final revelation. It is the word of Allah and that every message in it is a guidance for mankind. Accepting the unseen and also accepting the fact that we do not have any knowledge except what He wants us to possess. Accepting that He sent down the prophets for our guidance as the best examples for us.
Obeying every command of Allah knowing that it is the most beneficial for you. There is wisdom behind every command of Allah which our little human brain cannot comprehend and once we realize this our life becomes simpler and stress-free and by his mercy we will be better equipped to deal with different kinds of people in a respectable manner.
Thanking is also very important when we say we believe. Thanking him for every blessing he has bestowed upon us. Do we even realize how blessed we are to be born as muslims or to be born with perfect health or to have three meals a day ...we cannot even keep track of our blessings. Do yourself a favor, remind yourself of all the blessings you can recall at night before you sleep and thank Allah for it, experience the feeling of peace and content in your heart.
Alhumdullilah.
This ayah also mentions the believing people who do good deeds. Which deeds are considered good? Good deeds are all the acts that are done to please Allah alone, such as helping a person in need, smiling at your mom, relieving someone from their debts etc. In our busy day if we do our daily normal activities keeping in mind the best way Allah has prescribed for us or the way that is shown by our prophet (SAWS) and do it accordingly, then you have done the best deed and it will be a means for you earn reward from Allah in sha Allah.
The reward of Jannah is too precious for us dear brother and sisters, there is Jannah or there is jahannam and nothing else, which way do you want to go? Don’t you want to enjoy the gardens of Jannah under which the rivers flow and the fruits that are as perfectly ripened as you wanted it to and to have a perfect spouse that you always wished for.
We cannot achieve anything without striving for it, then buckle up, get ready for your exam and prepare in a manner that would definitely help you reach to the highest ranks of Jannah. In sha Allah.
