If Allah wants to do good to somebody, he afflicts him with pain.

مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُصِبْ مِنْهُ
Sahih al Bukhari 5645
If Allah wants to do good to somebody, he afflicts him with pain.

How often do we think a calamity, a trial is good for us? In this hadith our Rasool (S.A.W) says when Allah wants khair for you, when He wants to do good for you that is when you are afflicted with trials.
How can trials be good for us? Whenever we are going through some stress or difficulty in any way be it physical, mental, financial etc. some of us just lose hope, go further away from deen (this is not what Allah wants us to do , this is what shaytaan wants us to do) And some of us get closer to Allah by seeking his help, by trusting His decree, By relying solely on Him. Subhan Allah.
When struck with a calamity, firstly endure patience and Thank Allah, things could have been worse, there are people suffering in more ways than you. Secondly, endure patience and thank Allah as He choose to erase some of our sins. Thirdly, endure patience and Thank Allah by your suffering in this duniya which is temporary, Allah is elevating your ranks in the Akhirah which is eternal.
The Messenger of Allah said: "The believer is not afflicted by the prick of a thorn or what is worse (or greater) than that, except that by it Allah raises him in rank and removes sin from him."
But there are times when we think it is just too much to deal with, we cannot take it anymore. How much is too much? Dear brothers and sisters the trials that we are going through are much easier than the trials which our forefathers went through. Do not despair in a tough situation, it is temporary, and it too shall pass, focus on getting closer to Allah at these times and a focus on your final goal to reach Jannah

Allah says do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? (2;214)
If we go through every trial with patience and seek his help, we become stronger and wiser. O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient. (2:153)
