Today's Reflection [Ayah 14-15 , Surah Baqarah]

 

وَإِذَا لَقُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا وَإِذَا خَلَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ شَيَٰطِينِهِمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا مَعَكُمۡ إِنَّمَا نَحۡنُ مُسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

And when they meet those who believe, they say, "We believe"; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers."(2:14)

 

ٱللَّهُ يَسۡتَهۡزِئُ بِهِمۡ وَيَمُدُّهُمۡ فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ

[But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly.(2:15)

 

In this Ayah Allah mentions another trait of a hypocrite. When he is with a believer, he pretends to believe and when he is around disbelievers, he mocks the believers and their faith without realizing that Allah is all seeing, all hearing and all knowing. Allah does not guide such people in this duniya instead he leaves them to wander blindly in this duniya. They will not find any peace or tranquility in their life.

This ayah reminds us that whatever we do open or hidden Allah knows it All. We do not gain anything by pleasing people in this world except temporary praise which does not benefit us in any way.

And we should also remember that if our intentions are to please Allah alone then we automatically gain success and respect in this dunia also, every aspect of Islam is for the betterment of the mankind. We become more hardworking, sincere, considerate and our acts reflect our pure intentions.

We shouldn’t fear people’s reactions when we obey Allah, as ultimately what matters is what Allah thinks of our actions. Some people befriend you just because of your status or because they want something from you and when they get what they want, they turn their backs on you. SubhanAllah, Allah is Always there for those who seek his help even if they are sinners, if Allah accept their repentance they are guided again. 

Who are we trying to cheat by hiding our evil acts, shaytaan tries to convince us that our acts are hidden and we won’t be accountable for it. But beware dear brothers and sisters we are just deceiving ourselves if we think that our deeds are hidden from Allah.

May Allah make us mindful of our actions in public and in private.
