When you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah
When you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah
(Surah Al Imran: 159 )
Relying on Allah is one of the most important part of being a Muslim. Just saying I believe in Allah, I am a Muslim or I am obeying all the commands of Allah isnβt enough. Putting your trust in Allah, knowing that he is in control of everything is a must. Now if you see if we lack faith in this matter, when we are stuck in an unexplainable situation or we are afflicted by an adversity where we do not see a way out, we might just give up. What helps us cope with it is the rope of tawakkul that Allah is in control of every thing, he is watching over his patient servant. He knows our capacity, βAllah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear β (2:286)
That does not mean that when ever we are in a difficult situation, we just sit quiet saying we rely on Allah. No that is not right as mentioned in a hadith in Tirmidhi :
One day prophet Muhammed (saw) , noticed a Bedouin leaving his camel with out tying it. He asked the Bedouin, βWhy donβt you tie down your camel?β He replied, "I put my trust in Allah .β Muhammed SAW said, βTie your camel first and then put your trust in Allah.β
What we understand here is that we need to put our complete effort and then believe firmly that now Allah will take care of the rest and we should be content with what He has decreed upon us. Some times we see it as a loss for us, but Allah knows the unseen, he knows what is best for his believing servant. As Allah says βBut perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.β(2:216)
Although we know that Allah is in control of everything , we are each responsible for doing they right thing in all situations in our lives. We must take action. We must work to alleviate the hardships we, our families and our communities face.
