Whosoever intended to perform a good deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself

On the authority of Ibn Abbas (RadhiyAllahu β€˜anhuma), from the Messenger of Allah (SallaAllahu β€˜alayhi wasallam), from what he has related from his Lord is:

β€œVerily Allah has written down the good deeds and the evil deeds”, and then explained it [by saying]: β€œWhosoever intended to perform a good deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete good deed. And if he intended to perform it and did perform it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds up to seven hundred fold, up to many times multiplied. And if he intended to perform an evil deed, but did not do it, then Allah writes it down with Himself as a complete good deed. And if he intended it [i.e., the evil deed] and then performed it, then Allah writes it down as one evil deed.”

This hadith points towards Allah (SWT) great blessings and generosity. Allah wants us to do righteous deeds and he rewards us for it even if it is just an intention. Allah's  generosity shows us that he considers both our intention and deed when it comes to performing good deeds and when it comes to committing sins he is lenient upon his slaves and does not record the evil deed's intention only the evil deed itself is recorded.

We may have intended to do a good deed and sometimes even contemplated upon how to carry it out and when. This in itself is rewarding.

Sometimes we want to do many good deeds and either we are stopped by domestic restrictions or other people that does not let us complete the deed we intended. Dont worry sisters and brothers, Allah is watching over us all the time and he knows what is in our hearts. If we really intend it then we must seek Allah's help and make dua to him so he can help us accomplish our niyyah.

Just a fleeting thought about a good deed is not enough, we need to make a genuine intention to complete a good deed. Allah will aid you if we want to do good deeds.

What prevents us from developing further and changing to the better is not having high aspirations and wanting to do good, so change this and have high aspirations.
