Ramadan Series بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
The importance of saying Bismillah
Today we start our series with the name of our creator ALLAH . بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
As a muslim we should always start any and every act with the Bismillah. The Quran, ( our book of guidance ) starts with a Bismillah. The first Ayah which was sent down asks us to mention Him before reciting. ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ -Recite in the name of your lord who created you.
It is a blessed name so when we start our acts with his name, our deeds get blessed. SubhanAllah. We humans are weak without the help of our almighty, so when we start the deed or ibada with the Bismillah, we get the help of Allah and He motivates us to do more good deeds. It also humbles us from within when we realise what ever we are able to do is because of the tawfeeq from Allah, because of his help and his mercy. We do good deeds expecting returns from Him alone. When we use any of his niamah (blessing) and say bismillah it reminds us to be thankful for that blessing. eg. we are drinking water and we say bismillah before we start, we are reminded how Allah has provided clean water fr me and there are many people in the world who are deprived of it and it automatically humbles us and makes us thank Allah. Thanking Him gets us closer to Him the Almighty.
Say Bismillah when we enter the house and when we close the door of the house. Shaytaan cannot open a door which is closed by the name of Allah. Similarly Reading Bismillah also protects us from sudden afflictons. Usman ibn Affan (RA) said Muhammad(SAW) said a person who reads :
بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
this dua in the morning three times will be free from affliction till the evening and who ever reads this three times in the evening will be free from affliction till the morning.
what happens when we don't read bismillah: Ibn Abbas (RA) says: Iblis said to Allah the Almighty, that you have given risq to everyone but what about me? Allah the almighty says Everthing on which my name has not been called upon is yours.
So my dear brothers and sisters, make it a habit to start your day with bismillah. Say bismillah when you sit , stand, open the door, when you start to cook etc. Say it loud when your family is around so that they are reminded and the children make this a part of their life.
