Hadith on Condemnation of Pride

Image
Hadith on Condemnation of Pride   Abdullah bin Masud (RA) reported: The Prophet (SAW) said ,” he who has,  in his heart,  an ant’s weight of arrogance, will not enter Jannah .” Someone said :”A man likes to wear beautiful clothes and shoes?” Messenger of Allah (SAW) said,”Allah is beautiful, He loves beauty. Arrogance means ridiculing and rejecting the truth and despising people.” [Sahih Muslim] Commentary: The Hadith stresses , that a man who has even an iota of pride in his heart will be barred from entering Jannah. The Hadith word used for smallest amount means in Arabic, either the smallest ant or the particle which is radiated by the sun-rays and seen through a wall-chink. Obviously such a particle has almost a non existent amount, but even this much is disapproved by Allah. If pride incites a man to deny the existence of Allah and His revelation. He is sure to be thrown into Hell. He also f...

Hadith on Repentance

Image
Abu Huraira (RA) reported: I heard Messenger (SAW) saying: β€œBy Allah, I seek Allah’s forgiveness and repent to him more than 70 times a day.”                            (Sahih Al Bukhari) Commentary :   It is an inducement for seeking pardon and forgiveness. The prophet (saw) whose past and future   sins were forgiven , asked Allah’s forgiveness - then how about us, who commit sins on regular basis , not to seek pardon and forgiveness from Allah? Sincere and ceaseless prayer for pardon is essential so that the sins committed by us unintentionally are also forgiven. The above hadith lays great emphasis on seeking forgiveness. It is necessary to repent from every sin. If the offense involves rights of Allah, not a human then there are three conditions to be met in order that the repentance be accepted by Allah:               a. To desist from committing it. ...

Hadith on ease in our religion

Image
Such beautiful is our religion: SubhanAllah  Aisha (RA) reported: The Prophet(saw) came in when a women was sitting beside me. He asked me , β€œWho is she ?’ I said : She is the one whose performance of salat has become the talk of the town.”  Addressing her, he (saw) said , (What is this!) you are required to take upon only what you can carry out easily. By Allah , Allah does not withhold His Mercy and forgiveness of you until you neglect and give up (good works). Allah likes the deeds best which a worshipper can carry out constantly.” {Al Bukhari and Al Muslim} Commentary: The hadith prohibits ibadah beyond one’s capacity, lest one gets tired and stops it altogether . One should be therefore moderate in this respect. Allah likes that good action which is done regularly, even if it is a small one . Any good deed which is done continuously will have an everlasting reward. On the contrary , a good deed which is done f...

Hadith on expiation of sins

Abu Huraira (RA) reported: Messenger (SAW) said, β€œ The five (daily) salat , and from one Jumuah prayer to the (next) Jumuah prayer, and from Ramadan to Ramadan are expiations for the sins committed in between their intervals , provided the major sins are not committed.” -Muslim If a Muslim saves himselves from major sins and does not neglect his obligations to people then he remains free from sins by means of Ibada (worship) stated above .

Hadith on Companions of a Muslim

Abu Musa Al-Ashari (RA) reported: I heard the prophet (SAW) saying, β€œThe similitude of good company and that of the bad company is that of the owner of the musk and of the one blowing the bellows. The owner of the musk would either offer you some free of charge, or you would buy it from him, or you smell its pleasant fragrance and as for the one who blows the bellows i.e the blacksmith, he either burns your clothes or you small a repugnant smell.’  Sahih Buqari and Sahih al Muslim  The hadith enjoins that one should sit in the company of pious persons and avoid the impious ones because the former has the quality of a perfume seller and the latter of a blacksmith. In the association of the pious men , one stands to gain all the time and ultimately become like them. In bad company one is out and out a loser and can never hope to gain any benefit fro...

Hadith on Selflessness and Sympathy

Selflessness and Sympathy   Allah, the Exalted, says: β€œ And give them (emigrants) preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that.” ( Al Hashr ayah 9) β€œ And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to the poor , the orphan and the captive.”(Al Insan ayah 8) Abu Huraira (RA) reported: A man came to the Prophet (saw) and said; β€œI am hard pressed by hunger.” He sent a word to one of his wives who replied: β€œBy Him who has sent you with the truth , I have nothing except water.” Then he sent the same message to the another (wife) and received the same reply. He sent this message to all of them (i.e., his wives) and received the same reply. Then he (saw) said, β€œWho will entertain this guest?” One of the Ansar said: β€œ O messenger of Allah I will.” So he took him home and said to his wife :” Serve the guest of messenger of Allah (saw).” Another narration is: The Ansar said to his wife: ”Have you got anything?” She answered : β€œNothing ex...
